We will be starting our Special Olympics bowling season (for bowlers ages 8 and up), with a mandatory meeting, Tuesday, May 28th at 5:30PM at the Special Connections office. At the meeting, we will review information for the upcoming season, hand out paperwork, collect fees and discuss a new scholarship program available through Special Connections.
Practices will begin Tuesday, June 11th at Echo Lanes in Morris. Practices begin at 5PM and we will bowl 3 games each practice (ramp bowlers will bowl 2 games) every Tuesday through August 6th. Competition will be held on Saturday, August 10th at Town & Country Lanes in Joliet (location is tentative). Athletes may choose one of the following events for participation: singles, doubles or team.
This year we will be collecting a one-time payment, to be paid before the start of the season, for the 9 weeks of bowling. Traditional bowlers, who will bowl 3 games each week, will pay a fee of $91 and ramp bowlers, who will bowl 2 games each week, will pay a fee of $73. Checks can be made to Special Connections. There is an opportunity for individuals to apply for a scholarship or request a payment plan. Please contact Kelly Thompson at [email protected] or 815-545-3397 if interested.
There will be a maximum of 70 bowlers for Special Olympics bowling. A waiting list will be created if more than 70 people register.
Please note, bowlers who win a gold medal at the regional competition August 10th, will advance to a sectional competition on October 20th. Gold medal winners at the sectional competition will advance to the state games on December 7th. Practices for sectional competition and state competition will each have an additional, separate fee, to pay for those weeks of bowling practice.
