SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING REGISTRATION
Athletes ages 8 and up for Singles, Doubles, or Team; traditional or ramp. You may only pick one event.
Zoom meeting on Tuesday, May 30th at 7pm. See the email for the link. Even if you are only interested in more information, I encourage you to attend.
The roster will be limited to 62 bowlers on a first come, first serve basis. 2022 Regional bowlers are guaranteed their spot for 2023.
Practice on Tuesdays starting promptly at 5:00 with a 10 minute warm up. If you miss the first 3 frames of a game, then you will wait until the next game starts. Entire practices missed can be made up when the bowling alley has open bowling. If you have a planned absence, then please pre-bowl your games before that week. Ask for a copy of your scores to turn in. Any questions about this, please ask Tina.
Athletes should wear comfortable clothing and bowling shoes. This is the only sport that jeans or jean shorts are allowed however, JEWELRY IS STILL NOT ALLOWED. Medical bracelets ARE ALWAYS allowed.
Athletes are responsible for their own transportation to practices. The SC buses may be used for transportation to competitions as needed.
Competitions are as follows:
Regional: Saturday, August 12th in Joliet
Sectional: Sunday, October 15th in Addison
State: Saturday, December 2nd in Peoria
Special Olympics Medicals must be valid through December 2nd. New Medicals are due to Tina NO LATER THAN 6/27/2023 or you will not be able to compete. If you are not sure if you need a new Medical, please let me know and I can look that up for you. Medicals, once approved, are valid 3 years from the date of the examination.
I'm in need of a Head Coach for this sport. Complete knowledge of bowling is not required, but would help to coach the athletes to improve. We are also in need of Assistant Coaches ages 14 and up. Please respond if you are interested in volunteering at practice and possibly at competitions, and I will get you set up to help. A Special Olympics Class A Registration is required along with some paperwork. If you have a Class A, but do not know when it expires I can look that up for you. A Class A is valid for 4 years once completed with a background check for those 18 and older.
Register by responding to the email, calling Tina at 815-230-1877, or signing up here online. Registering on Facebook is not allowed. Registration closes June 6th. Once you register, I will let you know what paperwork I need from you. Please see the flyer attached to the email for additional information, including the cost to participate.
